Whatabout Theatre's Revolving Stage program provides an opportunity for directors to produce a 45-60 minute structured long form improv show.The next Revolving Stage production will be Home Slice, which premieres August 2024!

The next Revolving Stage production is entitled "Home Slice" and is directed by Jason Robbins and Jamie Artman. Each show will follow the lives of a group of people who live in the same home, it may go from a crowded city apartment one performance to a rural farmhouse the next, and anywhere in between. The improvisers will create the world of the home and show a slice of life for its inhabitants and their neighbors with live accompaniment/underscoring from Music Director, Jamie Artman.CONGRATULATIONS to the cast of Home Slice:

improv jams

Join us for a free (suggested donation $5) improv jam at 7:30 pm on Friday, July 5, 2024 at the Frog Island Amphitheater.Anyone (ages 16+) can get on stage and perform improv regardless of experience. Our hosts will welcome you, explain the rules, and leave space for you to have fun making things up on stage! Suggested donation $5

About Your Instructor: Kevin Reome has been studying improv for more than 30 years, beginning at The Second City Training Center in Chicago and then at iO Chicago with Del Close. He is a founding member of the long-form improv team Inside Vladimir that performed as a house team at both iO and The Playground Theater. Reome starred in “The Real, Real World” with the Upright Citizens Brigade at the Del Close Theater in the 90s. Over the years, he has appeared on the ABC 7 talk show Windy City Live as well as Fox Chicago, NBC5 Chicago, WBBM Newsradio and WLS Talk Radio.Since 2005, he has taught at The Second City Training Center in Chicago as a faculty member, including teaching in Osaka, Japan, in 2014 for The Second City. In addition to working with many theater and corporate groups in Chicago, he has taught improv all over North America in places such as Detroit, Atlanta, Cincinnati, San Diego, Baltimore and Mexico City, in universities including the University of Michigan, Nova Southeastern University and Murray State, as well as for sports teams including Western Michigan University football and the Detroit Tigers.Reome has written and starred in various shows in Chicago including “The Eulogist,” “Rahm Zombie,” “The Reome Awards of Chicago to Benefit Alzheimer’s Research” and “Lightfoot Loose.” He currently hosts and plays in "The Reome Ring", an improvised monthly show, where each week different all-star caliber Chicago improvisers are invited to play. Reome holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a teaching degree from Western Michigan University.


Registration Now Open - Classes Start In July!
If you've ever considered learning improvisation, Whatabout Theatre's Improv Level 1 class is the place to start! In this class, you'll gain familiarity with improv concepts, grow your skills, and build relationships with your classmates.
After completing this eight (8) week class, you'll:

  • Employ active listening tactics in and outside of scene work

  • Create and embody characters with a variety of physicalities and voices

  • Perform improvised scenes live on stage in front of an audience!

At Whatabout Theatre, we want our students to stay on T.R.A.C.K.
Trust in your community. Respect yourself and others on and off the stage. Accept people for where they start their journey. Create in a safe and collaborative environment. Know that you are enough.

Whatabout Theatre is proud to now offer scholarships! Each class session has two (2) available scholarships for 50% off the regular registration fee. These scholarships are meant to provide access to classes for those who are unable to or would have difficulty paying the full fee.There is no application! Simply select the scholarship price when you register.Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to get yours ASAP!
